Adapt Family - Bringing information, understanding and compassion to the process of adoptions
We are two adoptive mothers who have teamed up in Singapore to provide an information service for prospective local or foreign adoptive parents. For Monique Ciochetto and Kara Ekeberg this has been a passion in the making.
Monique, a New Zealand PR, is a single mother of two adopted daughters and Kara, an Australian PR who has been living here for 13 years, has 2 biological and 2 adopted children. Both women know the journey from dream to reality, from singlehood to motherhood, and know what is involved in making that transition via adoption.

Says Monique, “I found the adoption process so difficult to understand initially, it was almost impossible to find up to date accurate information in a user friendly format”.
Kara adds, “the process of adopting can be overwhelming. Already highly emotive, it is hard to know where to start, who to speak to, potential costs and all that paperwork. My husband and I struggled through and I thought, there must be a more compassionate and user-friendly way of doing this”.
Under the auspices of Adapt Pte Ltd, we aim to take the mystery, confusion and bewilderment from the process of adopting either a local or overseas child and enable prospective adoptive parents to understand the adoption alternatives open to them without having to undertake lengthy and confusing searches for information on adoption.
